Record Breaking Attendance at the 2011 Pension Focus Conference

The 2011 Pension Focus conference held this past May 19-20 in Branson, MO reported a record breaking attendance level, a 12% increase over 2010. Retirement plan professionals learned about the most paramount issues their companies face today regarding their retirement plans. Attendees heard from Brian H. Graff, Esq., APM, the Executive Director and CEO of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) and James W. Paulsen, Ph.D., the Chief Investment Strategist for Wells Capital Management among other experts in the industry on topics such as retirement readiness and what plan sponsors can do to improve it; mistakes plan sponsors make and provide actionable advice to prevent them; and key IRS or DOL updates, which have significant implications this year.

The next Pension Focus conference will be held May 17-18, 2012. Details for that conference will be posted on the pensionfocus.org Website later this year.

Pension Consultants Sponsored 20th Annual Kitchen 5k Fun Run for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Over 800 participants participated in the 20th Annual Kitchen 5k Fun Run and Mutt Strut, which was presented by Pension Consultants, Inc. for the fourth year in a row. The race, which took place on Saturday, May 7, 2011, raised over $16,000 for The Kitchen’s Family Nurturing Center for childcare.

Brian Allen, president of Pension Consultants and immediate past president of the board of directors for The Kitchen commented that, “Being able to give back to our community in a meaningful way is very gratifying. The Kitchen provides many valuable services to help care for those in need with dignity and compassion.”

The Kitchen  is widely recognized as an innovator for addressing the issues of poverty and homelessness in the Springfield area. It provides many services including housing, food, medical services, counseling, case management, child care, job counseling, youth services, clothing, advocacy, life skills and homelessness prevention.

2011 W. Curtis Strube Small Business Award Nominee

Pension Consultants is honored to be recognized as one of the five finalists for the 2011 W. Curtis Strube Small Business Award by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. The Small Business of the Year award is named in honor of the late W. Curtis Strube who was an avid supporter of small businesses and an advocate for ethics in business. The recipient is selected based on such factors as staying power, response to adversity, innovative products or services, business philosophy and contributions to the community.
